The Bistro for Coffee

Many coffee houses are like a train depot - people coming and going - controlled chaos. The Bistro is more like a visit to your favorite spa - quiet, relaxing and restorative.

The place sets you at ease the minute you walk in the door. The music is relaxing the view of Willow lake is beautiful and you are always greeted with a smile. The decor, somehow, invites you to blow off the stress of the day or, in the morning, get yourself centered for the day to come.

I picked out a small table next to a window. There was a group of 4 mature gentlemen sitting around the fireplace, a couple with their 2 kids and assorted others scattered around the store.

No one is in a hurry. One or the other of the fireplace guys makes his way to the coffee bar ($1.85+tax for all you can drink!) at regular intervals.Coffee & a muffin at the Bistro Prescott, AZ. Lynette Woode - who along with her husband Clyde own The Bistro- delivers a hot fresh cinnamon roll & an apple streusel muffin to the mom & dad - and a friendly word to all along the way.

A steady stream of patrons order their smoothies, lattes or other drinks and wander over to peruse the display of top quality, fresh roasted, coffee beans that are offered for sale.

The wait is short and most are on their way, but a few find a table, or an easy chair and settle in - and that is just the way Lynette wants it.

"Take your time, relax, stay a while" is her mantra - and she really does mean it.

My order arrived - a cinnamon roll - that was hot and delicious, not overly sweet - very good and a streusel muffin - yummy. I washed that down with coffee from the coffee bar - Kona on the first cup, Sumatra Mandheling on the second and Zocalo decaf on the third - all excellent and very different from one another.

My total bill?  $4.85.

I know that you all have your favorite coffee house, but do yourself and your blood pressure a favor - drop in and visit Lynette at The Bistro.

You'll walk out feeling a whole lot more relaxed.
