Pizza in Prescott, Arizona

Anytime, Anyplace  - it's all good!

It is the rare person indeed that doesn't like Pizza. Rarer still is the odd duck that doesn't like Pizza or wings. Pepperoni Pizza in Prescott, Arizona

For the rest of us Normal people pizza is a food group unto itself.

Where else can you get grains, dairy, veggies, meats and fruit all in one convenient and delicious package? Nowhere, that's where.

Pizzerias in Prescott, like most places, are divided into 2 groups - chains and independent  practitioners.

Prescott-good-eats.com normally doesn't frequent chain restaurants. Not because they don't have good eats - some of them do, but because almost everybody already knows what the chains are all about. In the case of Pizza we are going to make an exception.

Why!? Because in Prescott at least, you can get some very interesting pies and a great deal of customization from some of the chains. We can't leave our loyal readers uninformed,  so we are going to step once again and eat all the Pizza necessary to bring up you up  to speed on Pizza in Prescott.

What do we look for in a Pizza , or a Prescott Pizza Restaurant? Here is our list;
  • Good crust. Pan, chewy, crispy, thin or stuffed, hand tossed or rolled out it should be delicious, not overly greasy with good texture and a  yeasty flavor.
  • Sauce can make or break a Pizza. Whether it is tomato, pesto, bar-b-que, cheese, or one of the other who knows how many sauces people put on Pizzas these days, it has to be good and in the right proportion to the rest of the ingredients.  The sauce should complement the the crust and the toppings - not over power it.
  • Toppings are, obviously, a matter of personal choice but they should be fresh and you should be able to tell what it is by looking at it.
  • How a Pizza is baked makes a difference. Wood fired ovens impart a different flavor and texture to a pie than one of those "electric treadmill" kind of things that are better suited for toast.
  • What can you get with it? Beer (a natural), pop, how about wings - are they any good? Dessert pizza hits the spot sometimes, how about a salad? You get the drift - there are lots of things that go well with Pizza - can you get them at this particular parlor?
  • A place to sit - is always nice, especially if you just came in for a slice and a beer.
We'll look at the whole package and let you know what we find. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it!

Pizzerias in Prescott, Arizona - the Good, the bad ....

Bin 239 - To my knowledge is the only place in Prescott to get a pizza baked in a real wood fired oven. If you like a crisp, thin crust with just a hint of smoky flavor - give them a try.

Tastebuds - is an old time independent pizza parlor. The pizza is great and so are the prices and, if you are in a hurry, they deliver - in about 20 minutes or so.

Bill's Pizza - is right on the square and dead on - if your thing is thin crispy crust pizza. Micro brewed beer and salads too.

Papa Murphy's - Maybe the best of the chain stores. Very good traditional and "deLite" crusts, 3 or so kinds of sauce and nothing but fresh toppings. And by the way - it is "Take n" Bake" only.

Nick-n-Willy's - A good neighborhood chain pizzaria. Lot's of "standard" pizzas, an all you can eat buffet and you can bake it yourself or they will do it for you.
