Embry Riddle & Good to Go Café

Team up on a first rate café at the Prescott Airport Campus

First ya gotta find it.

It’s not that easy! Embry Riddle or the City of Prescott or whoever is in charge needs to give the proprietor of Good to Go Café a break!

Technically, Good to Go Café is on Airpark Drive. The kicker is – there is no Airpark Drive, or at least no sign designating it as such. The City is in dire need of more sales tax – so how about they get these people a sign! Jeez.

Here is how you get there: From 89A exit on Larry Caldwell and go North. Turn east at the yield sign onto Wilkinson Dr. Stay on Wilkinson for about a mile, you will see a UniSource building on your right. Good to Go Café is on the West side of Wilkinson across from UniSource.

If you are in the right place, you should see a building with a Embry Riddle Golden Eagles banner on it just to the North. The Café looks like a Quonset hut. Jeez – you’re in the right area look around a little you’ll find it.

Once you get there, park in the lot on the East side of the building, there are plenty of spots, make your way around to the front and ta-da! Home at last!

The Good to Go building is cool!

It’s a modern day Quonset Hut but with skylights, big windows, roll up doors (Awesome during nice weather!) and so on – very high tech – it fits right in with Embry Riddle’s reputation.

Inside, the lights, biplane model, fans etc. kind of remind you or an airport service bay – only clean. There are inside and outside tables. Neat place, not fancy but I like it!

The menu is built to please the locals, in this case the students and faculty of the University and the employees of the surrounding businesses, and please them it does.

Breakfast is covered with, scrambles, egg sandwiches, breakfast burrito’s at $4.95 to $5.95 and a variety of Specials that change daily but includes intriguing items like a Chicken Cordon Bleu Scramble – I’m coming back to try that one!

There are ½ dozen each, more or less, hot & cold sandwiches, soup, chili and combo’s thereof that range from $3.50 to $6.50.

The daily lunch value meal including a drink is only $4.95 and it changes everyday.

After a friendly greeting from Jessica, the owner, and her sidekick, I ordered one of the soup specials – Green Curry Chicken Soup and a Pastor Burrito.

Yeah, OK, the soup sounds strange but it was very good. The curry was not over powering but was definitely there. The chicken was not over cooked. It was tender and flavorful and when mixed with the mini (petite, small, tiny, whatever) corn cobs, it was very good. My cup of soup at $3.50 was practically a meal and a good value.

The Pastor Burrito was made up of refried beans, marinated pork (which I am told is called Pastor – who knew?), Cheese, Guacamole and Salsa - All done on a pretty good tortilla.

The burrito was good – the pork had big flavor, the beans and guacamole were passable. The salsa could definitely use some more heat. Not bad at all.

Good to Go Café is probably a little out of the way for it to be a breakfast or lunch destination, but if you do make it – it’s worth the trip. For those people in North Prescott – you really should try it.

Good for a quick Breakfast or Lunch, keep an eye on the specials.
