Bill's Pizza
Strategically located on the east
side of the town square Bill's Pizza is a good tasting haven for
tourists with tired feet and locals who appreciate thin crispy
crust and fresh, tasty toppings.
No matter which category you are in, this pizzeria makes a good pizza. The
crust is thin and crispy - but not crunchy - with a nice yeasty flavor.
The toppings are fresh and well thought through - in other words Bill's
sauteed the mushrooms before
they went on the pizza - no mushy pizza - love it. The sausage is real
Italian style with a little heat - good stuff.
The menu includes several salads (sm
$2.50-$3.75 lg $6.00-$8.00), slices ($2.00-$2.50), a half dozen or so
micro brewed beers ($3.50) and even a selection of wines ($4.00 gls
$15.00-$18.00 bottle).
The real draw
though are the Pizza Combos - 2 dozen or so
pre-planned pizzas that range from Bill's Favorite (pesto
& red sauce, pepperoni, salami, Sicilian sausage, onion
& tomato- 10"-$10.00 18" -$21.50) to Thai Chicken Pizza (peanut
sauce, pine nuts, jalepenos, bell peppers, chicken and fresh cilantro
10"- $9.00 18" -$20.00).
After spending an hour or so wandering aimlessly around the square -
the weather was very nice you see- I stopped into this conventient shop for a
slice and a beverage. I found my own table and the server was prompt
and courteous with the menu and the various kinds of slices that were
available that day.
I chose a meat combo. My server returned with my
beverage and in just a few minutes my slice appeared. Good service is
the point here. Not overbearing, prompt, friendly - no complaints.
I am,
admittedly, not a huge fan of thin crispy crust on a pizza.
Bill's however, makes one that I like and, if the crowd was any
indication, a lot of people are big fans.
This place is perfect for kids and has plenty of room for small parties.
So, here is the executive summary - Good pizza, fresh toppings, good
beer, good service, great location, parking can be a challenge.
- Location: 107 S. Cortez - on the east side of
the square.
- Parking: - On cortez or if that fails there is
a city lot a block south. If that fails - try the parking garage about 3
blocks to the west on Granite.
- Décor: A little art, bright colors and lots of
light make this pizzeria most inviting.
- Service: Friendly & efficient
- Rating: Good-Very
good
for Pizza - depends on the crust you like.
